This is a fun collection of routines that are centered around a cool prop idea. A metal matchbox. I know there has been a shift to “propless” mentalism. And a lot of it is absolutely fantastic and has its place. As do cool props. You place a matchbox on the table, without saying a word, most people in your audience now have stories catching sparks in their minds. Pablo offers routines that will get you thinking, and for me, that’s what books should do. He illustrates how a neat, simple, invocative object can be the beginning of a game of intuition, or the start of some ash reading, or even helping someone ‘let go’ of what has been holding them back. If you want your magic and mentalism to mean more, to be seen as more, this is the kind of stuff you should be looking at.
