Kenton is without a doubt a living legend Mystery Performance.
Magician, Mentalist, Creator and much more, offering deep and simple wisdom to integrate (this quote comes from his Impish Thoughts work)
When talking about "meaning" in Magic and Mentalist, most of the time we imagine a long boring performance that feels over-dramatic. Dont get me wrong, sometimes drama is a fantastic emotional strategy to consciously add to our performance, but a meaningful performance can also be done with a light script and fun moments.
Meaning is not something that we "add" to our performance but an inherent reality of all experiences that we can unveil.
Anything that we can offer a symbolic interpretation. The most basic piece using playing cards is not just about those pasteboards but memories of childhood. Any prop that we use is not just that but a portal of potential meanings.
Lets get real, we dont need more tricks. What we really need is to synthetize our repertoire through meaning. If we dont sacrifice the quantity of pieces that we master we will never reach the deeper quality that we can achieve.
I love to learn and create different possibilities, but in my real world repertoire I only perform a few phenomena using my creations as canvas of meaningful possibilities.
Thanks Kenton for your perennial wisdom and reflections.
