What is the future of Mentalism?

A new app that promises perfect methods?
A new gimmick that does all the work for you?
A new ACAAN?

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ACAAN or a fun creative tool, but the future of Mentalism centers on me, on you, on every Mentalist who understands the human nature of our art.

Personally, I see the future of Mentalism in deeper human connection, in returning to the idea of doing an “act” in which the Mystery Performer offers a clear and meaningful experience; in a new fascination with Mentalism not just as entertainment or distraction, but as a deeper experience of wonder, metaphoric expansion, and dramatic exploration.

This focus is not new for me at all. Since my beginnings, I found that my creativity tended toward these possibilities, not so much toward a new billet technique, but toward creating a memorable image to offer during a telepathic experience.  I have a lot of fun methods in my early books, but more and more I find myself caring about subtle experiences that can genuinely move people and create real shifts within them.

Mentalism has that deeper quality, and that is what I truly love about it.

Beyond methods, beyond techniques, beyond fooling someone for a moment, there is the possibility of creating an experience that stays with a person long after the performance is over. A moment of reflection, fascination, emotion, or symbolic meaning. That potential is what continues to inspire me the most about Mystery Performance.

Our technical core methods are invisible to participants and audiences; what they truly care about is what you offer them through your performance as something meaningful and beautiful.

The future of Mentalism is rooted in the classics, in the masters.
The future of Mentalism needs to remind us of the essential nature of human beings: we are primarily emotional beings, not rational ones.
