Quote of the Week: Theodore Annemann

One more time we invoke the power and wisdom of Theo, sharp and direct as always.
(This comes from The Jinx Editorial #3, December 1934)

Being a professional Mentalist is not just about how many tricks you know, but the level of professionalism that you can maintain. Professionalism is shown in the subtle details of the craft, and I dare to say that this is not just a commercial value but a fundamental one as well, even for the casual performer.

People are not interested in whether you have the latest ACAAN or the ultimate whatever gimmick, but in the alive presence of immediate experience, and in that, your repertoire is really secondary. Not that it is not important, but YOU, as the facilitator of the moment, are the fundamental basis. Only then can people invest attention and intention into your invitation.

That's why, in our Mentalism Course, I don't focus just on trick after trick but on building a robust foundation in the needed self-knowledge so you can really shine with your own inner light. There are many "Mentalism Courses" out there, but only this course offers a systematic understanding, both deep and clear, of Mentalism as a powerful Mystery Performance.

If you are a professional Mentalist and you can get gigs, go back to the essentials. Especially in these times of quick exposure and short videos, being mysterious is so countercultural that it is the real space of incubation for interest and potential clients. Keep your presence a mystery and people will seek you out, not the other way around.
